Sadly, the North Street Arcade in central Belfast, was burnt down in April 2004.
This historic and architecturally unique 1930's art deco shopping mall
was torched deliberately by agents of the owners to make way for
a contemporary redevelopment.
The beautiful and historic complex standing close to
St Annes Cathedral had survived both
Luftwaffe and IRA bombing campaigns, but finally was destroyed
in the interests of mutinational commercialism.
